Monday Matinee Movies... Once a month we turn back the hands of time to yester-year with our 10 cent movies and 5 cent popcorn. The type of movies vary from month to month (western, comedy, musical, ect.) but we gaurrentee that the newest of these movies will be from a day gone by. And that's not all, your 10 cent ticket automatically puts you into our drawing for a grocery store gift card, pharmacy gift card or postage stamps. In the past, we watched "Old Corral" with Gene Autry and Roy Rogers, "We're in the Army Now" with Jerry Lewis and Dean Martin, "The Long, Long Trailer" with Lucille Ball and Desi Arnez, and "White Christmas" with Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye, just to mention a few. We have loads of fun. We invite you and your senior friends to come out and join us each month.
Friday Fun Fellowship... Each month we get together either on Friday afternoon or Friday evening for FUN. In the past we have played the "Price is Right" Game, enjoyed an Old Time Gospel Hymn Sing, had a Pot Luck accompanied by a fun hour of Bingo and we gathered to play the "Let's Make a Deal" which was a hoot. To add to our fun, when we play the games there is always an opportunity to win fun and usable prizes. In addition to in house activities, we have plans for Fun Friday Fellowship outings such as: bowling, picnics in the park and more.

Outreach Events Top of Page
Besides outreach programs and events that apply primarily to senior adults, the senior adults actively lend their assistance to other ministries within the congregation to reach out to the community, such as helping with VBS, sponsoring youth, and other adult ministry events. Our seniors are strong financial supporters within the church at large, allowing the church's outreach efforts to expand beyond what is described here.

“My Philosophy of Senior Adult Ministry”
By Brinda Peterson
Minister to Senior Adults
My purpose statement of Senior Adult Ministry is to let the LIGHT of Christ’s love SHINE through the lives of seniors, by Serving and respecting others, Honoring God, Introducing lost individuals to Christ, helping seniors make and maintain New connections with others, and to Experience growth through study, prayer, and God’s word.
I created my purpose statement LIGHT using the acronym SHINE by using the five purposes set by the church, which emphasize Service (Ministry), Worship, Sharing (Evangelism), Caring (Fellowship), and Teaching (Discipleship).
John 1:4 says, “In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.” The original life and light of God was in the word. The word was God in the flesh of Jesus. That same light is in believers, and gives life to all who receive the word. The metaphor SHINE is wrapped up in the scriptures: “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father, which is in heaven.” (Matthew 5:16) “For you were once in darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light (for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth) finding out what is acceptable to the Lord.” (Ephesians 5:8-10)
Senior adult ministry is an opportunity to meet seniors where they are with a holistic approach to ministry. This is produced by addressing and meeting all aspects of a person’s and groups’ well-being, which includes: mentally, by challenging and encouraging them; physically, by providing information and opportunity to obtain care of self; economically, by seeing that the basic supplies for living are available; recreationally, through accessible and safe places to play; environmentally, by providing access-friendly spaces; socially, through fellowship activities; and spiritually, by providing opportunities for worship, study and service.
All ministries begin by exhibiting love and respect for all people. Jesus stated, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another." (John 13:34-35)
When Christians SHINE, Christ’ LIGHT is visible to the darken world, but in order for us to fully SHINE, we must know Christ personally, understand the purposes of the Church, as well as, the mission of the Christian life. It is my job as a ‘called’ minister through the power of the Holy Spirit to help seniors SHINE.
